Steve Lenz has served as the Company Photographer for the Wallkill Hook, Ladder and Hose Company in Wallkill, New York since 1997 and Fire Commissioner of Wallkill Fire District 2006-2007. See our Company Website: www.wallkillfire.org that has numerous photos of Wallkill's Bravest. Steve is also an avid collector of fire department patches, scale model apparatus, fire memorabilia, including old fire extinguishers, badges and fire helmets. His many items are displayed in his den and some of his collection of patches and numerous photographs are in the Wallkill firehouse. His special interest is antique fire apparatus. Fire service memberships include: Orange County Firefighters Museum(Charter Member), Buffalo Fire Historical Society, Ulster County Volunteer Firemen’s Association, Firemen’s Association of the State of New York, International Fire Photographers Association, SPAAMFAA (National Antique Fire Apparatus Club) and local chapter, Catskill Fire-Cats, Union Historical Fire Society (PA) and Historical 1897 Fire House (Elmira, NY). Steve’s full-time job is as a Fire Suppression Technician/Inspector and Fire Safety Instructor for Tyco-SimplexGrinnell. As part of his job, he services all of the Wallkill Fire Department’s fire extinguishers, SCBA’s and kitchen suppression system, including extinguisher training for all firefighters. Steve was voted in as an Honorary Member of the Plattekill Fire Department (Ulster County Co. #47). Steve has photographed fires, anniversary celebration and installation dinners for the department over the years. |
